1991 was a breakthrough year for the appropriately named Leaders Of The New School. The quartet of young Long Islander's known as Busta Rhymes, Charlie 'C Boogie' Brown, Dinco D and 'Cutmaster' Milo became an overnight sensation on programmes such as 'Yo! MTV Raps' and 'In Living Color'. Aided on the co-production duties by the Bomb Squad they dropped an energetic debut lp 'A Future Without A Past' which spawned 3 extremely succesful singles "Case Of The PTA", "Sobb Story" & "The International Zone Coaster".

LONS became icons for the new school sound that was sweeping through 1991. Their Elektra label mates KMD, Brand Nubian and Pete Rock & CL Smooth acted as joint torch bearers for this exciting new wave in rap music.

Busta Rhymes became the main focus point of the group with his distinctive growly rap style. By the time LONS featured on A Tribe Called Quest's 'Scenario' later that year, it was clear Busta was destined for bigger and better things.

His solo career was put on hold while LONS released their final lp "Time - The Inner Minds Eye" in 1993. But after that there was no stopping him, with an avalanche of international pop hits including 'Woo Ha!', 'Dangerous', 'Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See', 'Gimme Some More', 'Turn It Up' & 'Pass The Courvoisier'.

The remaining band members faded away, although Charlie Brown did make a notable appearance on Funkmaster Flex's 1995 posse cut 'Nuttin But Flavor' alongside Ol' Dirty Bastard (RIP) & Biz Markie.

Their first three singles are presented here in video form - Woo-Ha!!
