A quick Ego Trippin round up as after hunting high and low, the videos for the said tracks could not be found in 'the vault'. Disappeared without a trace? Hit me up on Claw's Hip Hop Vault if you want to 'share' any light on these rare videos.
We present D-Nice "25 Ta Life", AMG "Bitch Better Have My Money", Kool G Rap & DJ Polo "Bad To The Bone" & Eric B & Rakim "Mahogany" in a single mp3 d/l instead. Hold tight as we return shortly with videos from K-Solo, Del & Leaders Of The New Skool!
Movin' on up to #37 we have Special Ed's - Come Let's Move It from his 1990 sophomore album 'Legal'. This 12" was released late on in that year and scored a hit for SE as we stomped into '91.
The video has disappeared without a trace, so we hang onto the torch in mp3 mode. If any y'all have this vid in your vault then hit me up on the CHHV c-box message board.
As we continue on, it's my man Ice-T weighing in with "O.G. Original Gangster", taken from the lp of the same name - probably his best album made IMHO.
All hip hop heads should have heard of the infamous New York DJ Kid Capri. Newer fans however, may have missed out on his debut lp as an emcee; "The Tape".
It spawned 2 singles in '91; "Joke's On You Jack" and it's precursor "The Apollo", the latter which is featured in video form.
KC also rhymed on the charity posse cut "Heal Yourself" alongside Run DMC, LL Cool J, Krs-1 and so on. I know many peeps are still trying to track this particular video down, so if you've got it - drop it in the c-box on Claw's Hip Hop Vault.
We return to an episode of In Living Color from May 1991, the closing credits feature The Afros performing "This Jam's For You".
This novelty act consisted of Koot Tee, DJ Kippy O and Hurricane (Beastie Boy's DJ). Their name stood for "A Funky Rhythmic Organization Of Sounds" and as such, were always going to be taken as a 'here today, gone today" concept. Mind you, it was fun while it lasted.
They had an immediate hit at the start of year in "Feel It"; the video of which featured many of the day's hip hop stars joining in the spirit of things, and donning fake afro's (incuding MC Serch!!)
Their lp "Kickin Afrolistics" ended up being too much of the same thing, although "This Jam's...." was one of the better lp tracks.
